The Mesquite Group, Inc. takes privacy and data protection issues seriously. This Privacy Policy was designed to explain how we handle personally identifiable information collected from individuals who register for our counseling sessions and submit information to The Mesquite Group, Inc. through the Internet.

As our services evolve, we may revise this policy. If you have questions
about the privacy policies of The Mesquite Group, Inc., please contact us at support@themesquitegroup.org. You will receive an auto response from us confirming that we have received your e-mail. If you do not receive an auto response, please contact The Mesquite Group, Inc. at our number listed on the bar at left or by the contact information on the “About Us” page of this website.

Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personally identifiable information collected from clients (hereafter "customer", "user", or "you") who use the The Mesquite Group, Inc. as a provider of online financial or money management counseling. This Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that The Mesquite Group, Inc. does not own or control, or to people that The Mesquite Group, Inc. does not employ or manage. This Policy is specific to The Mesquite Group, Inc.

Information Collection and Use

The Mesquite Group, Inc. collects personally identifiable information when you register and complete the Client Intake Form. When you register with The Mesquite Group, Inc., we ask for your contact information (such as your name, street address and e-mail address), along with billing information such as a bank account and/or credit card number. The Mesquite Group, Inc. uses the information collected to fulfill your requests for online financial or money management counseling, to process payment transactions, to facilitate billing, provide a Certificate of Completion, and otherwise deliver financial or money management counseling. We may need to contact your attorney using the information you provide in order to ensure prompt and correct delivery of your certificate.

We may also send flyers, announcements, letters, or other notices about new products or services offered by The Mesquite Group, Inc., to you or your attorney. Personally identifiable information related to payment processing, such as bank account numbers or credit card numbers are not used for this purpose.
The Mesquite Group, Inc. does not market its services to children. Our online financial or money management counseling is intended for use by adults who seek to personal financial assistance or who seek to comply with the requirements of the United States Bankruptcy court. The Mesquite Group, Inc. does not request or knowingly collect personally identifiable contact information from anyone under the age of 13.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Protecting the personally identifiable information about clients and consumers is an important part of our business. We share and disclose such information only as described below.

The Mesquite Group, Inc. sends personally identifiable information about you to other companies or people:

  1. when we have your consent to share the information;
  2. when we need to share your information with third parties, such as banks and credit card processors, to provide the product or service you have requested;
  3. in connection with products and services offered by The Mesquite Group, Inc.
  4. it is appropriate to comply with law;
  5. it is necessary to enforce or apply the terms and conditions of our agreement to provide financial counseling and to provide a Certificate; or
  6. it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Mesquite Group, Inc., our users, or others, which may include the exchange of information with other organizations for fraud protection and/or risk reduction. In the event that The Mesquite Group, Inc. is acquired, customer information may be one of the transferred assets.
Information Security

Information security is critical to our business. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information. The information gathered on secure computers is stored in encrypted databases. The number of employees involved in the management of the data center that have physical access to these computers is limited. We use firewalls and other security technology, as well as implement the highest industry standard security practices, to prevent our computers from being accessed by unauthorized persons.

We also require that any personally identifiable consumer information sent to us by you be encrypted using SSL encryption. To learn more about SSL, go to:

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your user ID and password, other sensitive account data and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer and otherwise safeguard any password used to access the online services of The Mesquite Group, Inc.

If you want to change your account information, such as telephone number, email address, or mailing address, contact The Mesquite Group, Inc. by email or telephone using the contact information provided on the "About Us" page of this web site.

Notice for Non-U.S. Citizens

The Mesquite Group, Inc. is located in the United States. Its services are intended only for U.S. citizens or residents. All monetary transactions are in U.S. dollars.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

The Mesquite Group, Inc. reserves the right to modify or amend this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. If there are material changes to this statement or in how The Mesquite Group, Inc. will use personally identifiable information, The Mesquite Group, Inc. will post notices on The Mesquite Group, Inc. homepage at

Policies related to Bankruptcy couneling certificates

Telephone counseling and call backs on Internet Counseling are during business hours:

   9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday – Thursday
   9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Central Time, Friday - Saturday


For those completing Client Intake Forms on the Internet, our policy is to call you and issue certificates no later than the next business morning after the course is completed, by 12:00 noon Central Time.

If you have a deadline and must have an Expedited Certificate Issuance, i.e., you must have your certificate the same day you complete the course, call our HOT LINE before registering and make arrangements with one of our staff (877) 769-4069.

Certificates will be issued by the method you select when you register, either email or U.S. Mail.

If you also want your certificate sent directly to your attorney you must complete at least one of the following:

Enter the attorney code, given to you by your attorney, or

Enter your attorney’s name and telephone number and other contact information. Failure to provide correct contact information for yourself or your attorney will delay the issuance of your certificate.

Any delay receiving a certificate, caused by submitting incorrect contact information, will not be the fault of The Mesquite Group, Inc.

If you complete the online Client Intake Form after business hours on Saturday (6:00 p.m., Central Time) or Sunday, your call back and certificate will be the following Monday a.m. (by 12:00 noon Central Time).

Refund Policy

If you begin the counseling process, but do not complete it for any reason, you may be issued a full refund as long as no certificate has been issued.

Once a certificate has been issued to you and/or your attorney, no refund will be given.
